Your Role and Responsibilities
Role
This role has responsibility for assuring and/or validating the quality of the developed product. Responsibilities include systems bringup and integration systems performance hardware test quality RAS (reliability availability and serviceability) production introduction and product engineering. Focuses on Individual/Team/ Department Operational Objectives.
The position is for skilled test technicians to perform Hardware System test bring-up configuration & hardware debug. New IBM Power platforms bring-up activities and perform set-up and configuration on different versions of AIX / VIOS / IBM i / RHEL / SLES releases on variant of family Power processor releases.
Responsibilities
In the Systems development labs you will be bringing-up installing configuring maintaining and administering release and pre-release level Power Systems running various supported firmware and OS stacks. This position’s primary role is to support the work of the related HW/SW development and test teams so the ability to work well with internal customers is essential. Bring-up systems and then the responsibility shifts to maintenance and administration of those systems which can involve debugging and reinstalling parts of the firmware/software stacks. The level of support needed by each team varies depending on the mission and skills of the team.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
– IBM Power Systems hardware skills (e.g. bring-up installation configuration maintenance and administration)
– AIX or Linux on Power experience (e.g. bring-up install/migration/general knowledge-administration etc.) – preferably both AIX and Linux
– Experience in Cronus
– Virtualization (e.g. PowerVM KVM VMware)
– Strong Knowledge of end-to-end of Defect Management
– Excellent verbal and written english communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group is required.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
– Experience in Enterprise Storage/SAN (e.g. DS8K XIV V7000 Brocade administration etc.)
– Knowledge/Experience in Linux administration
– Experience in Rational Quality Manager
– Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices and methodologies including Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD)/Continuous Testing (CT)
