As a Quality Control Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will be based in our Heysham division. We are a world-class company with a global presence, providing innovative solutions in the field of research and development.

A day in the Life:

  • Lead a team of quality control professionals to ensure the highest standards of product quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring customer focus is primary objective.
  • Conduct routine analysis of samples according to approved procedures.
  • Segregate, label and dispose of waste chemicals in accordance with company, local, and government regulations and assist in reducing waste.
  • Assist in continuously updating standard operating procedures.
  • Perform and support investigations for out of specification failures, non-conformance reports, and CAPAs.
  • Support continuous improvement activities. (Knowledge and experience of Lean Six Sigma Process is a plus.)
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; resource planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and focusing employees.

Keys to Success:

To excel in this role, you must have a consistent track record of success in quality control management. Additionally, strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams are crucial.

Education

  • Educational requirements: BSc degree or equivalent experience is required.

Experience

  • Proven experience in quality control management in the chemical / pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to appropriately prioritise tasks.
  • Must be able to write clear, understandable documentation.
  • Verbal communication skills, and functional leadership skills.
  • Strong command of Quality System Regulations and ISO.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and driving quality improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient understanding of quality control methods and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

As a Quality Control Manager, you may be required to work in a office and laboratory setting. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials.
