The Quality Engineering Intern will get hands-on experience with continuous improvement project management and a variety of compliance requirements associated with medical device manufacture at the BD site in Broken Bow, Nebraska. This position will be exposed to the design and maintenance of quality systems that meet and exceed ISO and FDA guidelines. Constant evolution of the healthcare industry provides the Quality Engineering Intern with a great learning experience.

Specifically, this position will participate in engineering tasks, such as process development and validation of new or upgraded equipment. The individual fulfilling the role will perform statistical data analysis to assess machine capability. The position will also be exposed to other types of studies, including measurement systems analysis.

BD has since developed a strong relationship with the people of Nebraska, expanding to more than 2,500 employees in four locations: Broken Bow, Holdrege and two facilities in Columbus.

Job Overview:
The Quality Engineering Intern position is located at the BD-Broken Bow, NE, facility, which opened in 1960 with 55 employees. After 11 expansions, the 300,000 square foot facility employs approximately 400 associates. BD-Broken Bow is the world's largest manufacturer of Vacutainer ® tubes, shipping products worldwide, utilizing world class manufacturing techniques, driven by a combination of the latest technology, innovation, and processes.

Past interns have enjoyed the community of Broken Bow, participating in local softball and golf leagues, enjoying parks and recreation opportunities, as well as volunteering with local youth organizations.

Internship Qualifications

  • Completion of Junior year towards a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or Quality Sciences.
  • Prior internship or Co-op experience in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field desired, but not required
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and strong leadership potential
  • Ability to learn quickly, deal with ambiguity, take initiative and achieve results
  • Excellent written and communications skills
  • Proven organization and time management skills
