The Role Under general direction, theRegistered Nurse (RN)is responsible for providing direct nursing care, as assigned, to agency clients in accordance with agency policies and procedures and current standards of Nursing Practice. Completes assigned duties and documents in the medical record in accordance with medical record policies and procedures. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village. What You Will Do: • Assess the health status of clients assigned to daily work schedule and develop a plan of care. • Perform and document Nursing Intake/Medical History in accordance with agency policy and procedure. • Triage sick call list as assigned and make referrals for treatment to the appropriate level of medical practitioner. • Complete follow-up assessment of clients who are treated for chronic and/or acute illnesses to monitor the effectiveness of prescribed treatments. • Screen clients for TB by administering PPD and assessing the reaction to the PPD. • Monitor lab values to identify abnormalities and report such to the attending physician or physician’s assistant. • Review medical record to assess care being provided and to ensure continuity of care. • Review entire medical record of clients to be transferred to identify problems and need for follow-up appointments or diagnostic evaluations. Who You Will Be: • NYS RN licensure • BLS certification • Associate’s Degree in Nursing • Minimum of One-Three (1-3) years' demonstrated experience as an RN, preferably working with clients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or Serious Mental Illness (SMI) • Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR • Ability to work well under pressure • Ability to put patients at ease and explain physician’s instructions • Ability to multitask with excellent organization skills • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds • Knowledgeable of medical terminology • A team player with the ability to work independently Samaritan Village is a nationally recognized comprehensive Health and Human Services Agency, with over 60 programs across New York City and greater New York Area.
