Our Brilliant Black Minds team is committed to doubling the number of Black software engineers in tech over the next ten years. As our company's flagship purpose program, this team amplifies the brilliance found in the software engineering community of underrepresented minority developers through exposure, access, and fairness. As the only program of its kind, Karat enables its global network of Interview Engineers to make technical interviews more accessible and the interview experience more equitable.
The Relationship Manager for Brilliant Black Minds is instrumental in managing and nurturing relationships with our industry and corporate partners ( Partners of Brilliance .) You will manage strong relationships with corporate and industry partners by creating trust and confidence and grow many of our partners by acting as their internal advocate and ensuring their overall success with Brilliant Black Minds. You will share insights and Karat's deep knowledge and understanding of black engineers' perspectives to help our partners develop DEI business and recruiting strategies and support senior executives in driving equitable and inclusive change across their organizations.
The successful candidate will have experience managing stakeholders, clients, and/or account management, and developing strong internal cross-functional relationships. You're comfortable communicating with a wide variety of audiences of varying seniority - from DE&I managers to high-level executives at Fortune 500 companies.
What you will do:
Account Management of Industry Partners & Partners of Brilliance (60%):
  • Post-contract, manage and own relationships with industry partners like Inroads, NSBE, CodePath, etc. and act as the primary point contact to help achieve success.
  • Work directly with a portfolio of 10-15 Partners of Brilliance ( Partners of Brilliance ) , generally at the 100k+ funding level and above, to help them maximize the impact of their partnership with Brilliant Black Minds, streamlining internal resources and presenting information to partners.
  • Define success and build a joint plan with identified objectives, stakeholders, milestones, risks, and metrics for each partner and host monthly/quarterly/yearly review touchpoints to access and refine goals and to sync expectations.
  • Manage expectations and execution of partnership success with the goal of renewing or growing the partnership.

Delivery & Management (25%):
  • Develop materials and presentations for partner engagements and an. onboarding process and guide for partners, including a repeatable playbook for how we engage with partners .
  • Oversee in partnership with the Communication/PR team the conceptualization, design, and production of a broad array of partner marketing materials in Karat's brand guidelines, including reports, presentations, thought leadership articles, case studies, videos, social media strategies, press releases, and data visualizations.
  • Leverage Salesforce and other customer management tools to manage client information and contact points.

Product Liaison (10%):
  • Develop a deep understanding of each partner's hiring needs, hiring bars, and recruiting timelines of our Partners of Brilliance and communicate this with the relevant BBM team members.
  • Disseminate to the Product team an in-depth understanding of Partners of Brilliance job roles including the critical factors to meet the bar for employability and advancement of candidates.
  • Capture and share learnings across the entire Brilliant Black Minds and Product team related to partner priorities, talent recruitment, retention challenges, and feedback on recruiting and career development activities

Thought-Leadership (5%):
  • Hone the consultative approach with Karat's Partners of Brilliance (corporate partners) that harnesses the unique insights from participants, Brilliant Black Mind's leaders, and programs to help partners recruit and secure diverse engineering talent more effectively.
  • Provide data and insights to partners through analytics that will provide feedback on recruiting participation to our partner's DEI strategy.

The experience you will bring:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in Relationship Management, Account Management, Partnership or Customer Success, or Strategy Consulting (M/B/B).
  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to build relationships with both corporate non-profit or university partners.
  • Proven passion for working with partners, helping them execute on implementation, success or expansion plans through excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management and technical skills.
  • Passion for driving more diversity in tech, and deep understanding of the early-career Black and/or URM engineering audience.
  • Previous experience working with the HBCU community, STEM industry organizations, or diverse software developers is ideal.
  • Previous experience at a high-growth, quick-change start-up with a bias for action.

This is a Salaried, Full-time position. Immigration sponsorship is not available.
Karat's HQ is based in Seattle, Washington, but our core team is distributed throughout the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.
