Primary Purpose:
This position is responsible for improving machine and system reliability on equipment and instruments used in technical operations. Supports and partners with the engineering teams, operators, and management to maintain and continuously improve all aspects of a large and complex 24/7 operation. Responsible for analyzing and continuously improving equipment reliability and mechanical integrity to achieve the highest degree of equipment effectiveness at a sustainable cost. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, logical reasoning and people skills.

Essential Functions:
Develop and lead the reliability process in a manner that will have a direct impact on equipment uptime, efficiency, cost management, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, innovation, and ultimately profitability.
Analyze operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics / KPI's
Participate in engineering design reviews of products, systems and sub-systems to provide guidance and recommendations to engineers on design advantages for improved operational reliability
Identify areas of concern; inform design engineering and make recommendations for improvements
Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) with engineering for new product development and product improvement programs.
Provide recommendations on any changes to testing protocol. In some cases, provide direct assistance on specific reliability tests. Update reliability growth plans, allocation models and predictions and provide feedback to design engineering.
Analyze data using systematic, industry-standard reliability techniques and tools such as Weibull, ReliaSoft, Relex, and Bellcore.
Schedule and chair Corrective Action Boards as required to address product reliability issues
Works with ARUPs teams to influence machine reliability and world class Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
Develops inspection plans, reading specification and modeled drawings, root cause analysis, corrective actions
Provide technical support to onsite maintenance teams as required to resolve mechanical problems
Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in accordance with maintenance engineering standards and to the highest quality.
Recommend course of action to management regarding production reliability issues and may design and specify alterations and revisions to improve equipment reliability.
Work with, and at times, lead cross-functional team in identifying potential quality problems, characterizing failures, and driving corrective and preventive actions.
Effectively communicate with decision makers internally on complex issues both verbally and written.

Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
Continuing Education: Continual assessment of current literature and best practices.
Travel: Ability to travel off-site 1%-10% of time
