Job Description

What we're looking for:  We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic finance team as a Revenue Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in revenue recognition within the fintech/payments industry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our rapidly growing company and play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

Revenue Recognition:

  • Analyze contracts and agreements to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards (ASC 606).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand complex business transactions and provide guidance on revenue recognition implications.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of revenue streams, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to revenue performance.

Compliance:

  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition in the fintech industry.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and participate in the implementation of any necessary changes.

Audit Support:

  • Support external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to revenue recognition.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance revenue accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in revenue recognition.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with sales, legal, and operations teams to review and structure contracts with a focus on revenue implications.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of revenue-related matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or relevant professional certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in revenue recognition, preferably within the fintech industry.
  • 1-3+ years experience in public accounting or industry roles.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
