Role

The SCADA Project Engineer role is, under the Technical Lead responsibility, to integrate and test the various software parts of complex SCADA and IT systems for electrical and gas utility control centers.

• Under limited supervision, performs assigned system integration and testing tasks.
• Under limited supervision, assists senior engineers in integrating software applications for customer.
• Performs custom software development tasks.
• Diagnoses and fix systems and applications problems.
• Interface with the R&D department for product development and/or problem tracking and reporting.
• Assists in project and system documentation efforts and internal testing. Responsible for documentation on all fixes and development work assigned.
• Some direct customer interaction.
• May provide limited marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers.
• Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
• May be required to work extended hours, carry a pager/cell phone and be on call.

• Requires two (5) years software design and software integration.
• Good software systems development and/or integration skills.
• Good understanding of highly complex hardware and software configurations in IT systems.
• Programming experience and familiarity with database operations.

• Experience in design and implementation of SCADA, Energy or Market Management Systems is a plus.

• Experience in design and implementation of Service-oriented Architectures and deployment of Web services in distributed real time systems is a plus.

• Technical knowledge / Background in the following domains:
  • HW Infrastructure ( HP/IBM servers, SAN/NAS equipment, Virtualization (VMWare), ...)
  • Operating Systems & services : Windows 2012, Linux (RedHat), AD/DNS, LDAP, WSUS,...
  • High Availability : n-tier architecture, clustering, mirroring, Load Balancing, Oracle DataGuard, SQL*Server, PostgreSQL
  • Telecom & Network Equipment (Routers, Switches, Firewall, IDS/ IPS, Smart Cards), L2 technologies including VLANs, Access Control Lists, Spanning Tree, and 802.1q.
  • Web Services (SOAP, REST)
  • Middleware : Jboss, Websphere, Tomcat/Jetty
  • Security : PKI, Authentication, RSA Secure Identification, Encryption
  • Languages : C++ /Java
  • SCM (TFS, SVN)

• Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to draft professional and technical reports and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

• Ability and willingness to travel

• Fluent oral / written communication skills in English
