Role: Scientist – ADME - Tox

Salary: £30,000 plus excellent benefits

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

With state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise, we specialise in in vitro and in silico ADME-Tox services, providing a wide range of assays tailored to our client’s needs. This includes in vitro screening to support discovery projects, regulatory studies to support preclinical and clinical development, specialist mechanistic in vitro human and animal toxicity models and PBPK/QSAR modelling expertise. As well as supporting clients directly, we have a strong focus on R&D.

Our Alderley Park site is set in the heart of Cheshire surrounded by stunning 400-acre estate, open green spaces, sweeping viewpoints, all within easy reach of Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and Shropshire. Easy access to public transport.  

As a Scientist you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that ADME/Tox or Analytical assays, both commercial and R&D focussed, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled timeframes. In addition, , you will support the training and development of staff, improving the team’s knowledge and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific

• To conduct both routine and bespoke ADME/Tox/Analytical assays (both manually and using liquid-handling robots).

• To demonstrate ability to use scientific knowledge tin data analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting.

• To be responsible for management of assigned assays, take ownership for the planning and delivery of these assays, communicating effectively with team members and the study managers.

• To support senior team members with assay development and validation and design of bespoke assays. 

• To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.

• To keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of ADME/Tox/Analytical.

• To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies

• To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.

• To monitor and maintain stock consumables, communicating with internal buyers and external suppliers.

People

• To coach and mentor associate scientists and other colleagues within the team on assay execution and data analysis

• To treat all colleagues with dignity and respect

Business

• To proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and assay design and to support senior scientists to review and action these improvements.

• To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.

Self

• To ensure appropriate Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times in the workplace.

• To participate in all training required to perform effectively in job role.

• To ensure that your personal training record is up to date and that any gaps are discussed with your supervisor.

• To complete time sheets on time and in accordance with guidance from Finance.

• To actively participate in Evotalks and agree on personal targets and expectations with supervisor.

• Any other task that may reasonably be requested by your supervisor.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for all permanent employees.

• Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
