Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professionalSecurity Officerto join our in-house security team at the prestigious 900 N. Michigan Avenue property. This is a unique, full-time opportunity to work within a high-profile, mixed-use building encompassing over 750,000 sq. ft. of office and retail space, as well as a 12-level self-park garage. Our Security Officers play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of all individuals and assets on site. This is anunarmed security positionthat requires a proactive approach to safety, excellent observational skills, and the ability to interact calmly and professionally with visitors, tenants, and staff. You will patrol the premises, respond to incidents and emergencies, and ensure compliance with established security protocols. Current openings are available on the evening (1st) shift (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and overnight (3rd) shift (12:00 AM – 8:00 AM). Please note thatovertime is a mandatory requirement, so ideal candidates will have the flexibility to assist with shift coverage as needed based on operational demands. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other individuals to maintain building security. • Patrol assigned areas (on foot or via vehicle) to deter and detect suspicious activity, safety hazards, or security breaches. • Operate and monitor security systems, including CCTV surveillance, alarms, and access control systems. • Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergencies with appropriate action and professionalism. • Enforce building security policies and procedures as directed by management. • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of daily activity, incidents, and observations. • Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency responders when needed. • Support loss prevention efforts by identifying and mitigating risks to property and people. • Provide exceptional customer service—greeting guests, assisting with directions, and offering general support as needed. • Stay informed about building events and operations to better assist tenants and guests. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certifications (CPR, First Aid) strongly preferred. • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is highly desirable. • Dispatch or CCTV monitoring experience is a plus. • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively. • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness. • Ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods and traverse a large property as part of regular patrols. • Flexibility to work mandatory overtime and assist with shift coverage based on scheduling needs. • Professional appearance and demeanor required.
