Seed Growth Sr Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Seed Growth Manager will be directly responsible to manage FBN Direct seed growth initiatives and activities focused on attaining and exceeding our annual sales goals (AOP). This strategic role will also manage the in-licensing of seed germplasm and products, including managing supplier and client relationships, negotiating licenses, managing licensed product lifecycles and supply in collaboration with the Seed Category Manager and the Seed Operations and Procurement teams. This role would drive strategic seed initiatives with field sales (accounts executives, field sales agronomists, regional sales managers, etc) and our distribution partners (community builders) needed to achieve short and long term growth targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage strategic seed initiatives with field sales (accounts executives, field sales agronomists, regional sales managers, etc) and our distribution partners (community builders) needed to achieve short and long term growth targets
- Lead an internal process with the seed leadership to establish and promote good business relationships with relevant germplasm originators for crops of interest to the FBN seed business, with emphasis on corn and soybean
- Identify, establish and promote good business relationships with target clients for in-licensing of FBN corn and soybean
- Work with the seed portfolio management team (i.e. category management team) and seed operations team to align on in-licensing needs and opportunities, lifecycle and inventory management of in-licensed products
- Work with FBN Seeds R&D for evaluation and introduction of corn germplasm considered for potential in-license
- Work with FBN strategic finance to establish financial management practices for both accounts payable obligations associated with in-licensing
- Set the financial terms for germplasm out-licensing, consistent with the seeds strategy defined by the seeds leadership team
- Work with FBN legal to develop template terms and agreements needed to execute in-licensing agreements
- Ensure all in-licensing activities are conducted under and in compliance with current agreements
- Maintain accurate and current records of which products are in-licensed from whom, under what terms
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy or agriculture-related field (required)
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the seed industry including experience in agronomy, sales, marketing, supply chain or related field
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Possesses a professional and enthusiastic attitude along with strong problem-solving, critical-thinking and decision-making abilities
- Independent and detail oriented, with strong written, verbal and negotiating skills.Should have excellent leadership and administration skills and abilities
- Self-starter with drive to succeed in a quickly changing business environment
- Ability to effectively communicate, establish clear role expectations, and resolve crisis
- A farmer focus and a commitment to farmer satisfaction and customer experience
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing roles and responsibilities
- Ability to travel up to 15% of time
The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range of possible compensation for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $125,000 - $150,000.
This salary range may vary based on geography and variations in cost of labor. Beyond the above or adjusted to market salary range, FBN also offers all full-time employees competitive equity compensation, health and wellness benefits, and various perks.
