Since its founding in 2005, BerlinRosen has powerfully expanded its presence in corporate, social impact/ESG, nonprofit, entertainment, media, racial justice, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, architecture, design, urbanism, land use, lifestyle, technology, issue advocacy and workers’ rights communications. We have received more than 50 awards and recognitions, including being the only agency to be named #1 on Observer’s PR Power List for three consecutive years, PRNews’ Large PR Agency of the Year (2021) and 5/5 Stars on Forbes’ latest Best PR Agencies in America list.

People of color, people with disabilities and women are strongly encouraged to apply. BerlinRosen is committed to building and maintaining a diverse staff, and recognizes that its continued success depends on hiring and retaining high-quality creative professionals with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Opportunities for advancement exist, and we are committed to helping all staff develop and grow.

ABOUT THE LEGAL & CRISIS TEAM

BerlinRosen’s Legal & Crisis team combines advocacy for some of the most important causes of our day—defending civil rights, combatting gender and race discrimination, advocating for gun violence prevention—with more traditional crisis communications helping institutions, companies, nonprofits and high net-worth individuals defend themselves from reputational threats by shaping the narrative swirling around them. The team has contacts at top media outlets and leverages those connections to help clients mitigate damaging stories before and after they are reported.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking a Senior Account Executive to join our team. This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to join a talented and growing team working on exceedingly high-profile projects, including strategy and communications needs for a variety of clients ranging from law firms to businesses and nonprofits to high-profile individuals.

Role location: Ideally, candidates will be based in our New York, N.Y. office, though can also be based in our Washington, D.C. office, on a hybrid basis. Proof of vaccination is required to work in any of BerlinRosen’s offices.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Senior Account Executive on our Legal Affairs and Crisis Communications team, you will…

  • Drive the day-to-day on projects and collaborate with colleagues to advance the communications strategy for multiple high-profile client accounts
  • Implement integrated campaigns that leverage public affairs, media and digital tactics to reach key audiences and achieve client goals
  • Collaborate with internal account teams to shape media coverage of particular legal and crisis efforts, whether proactively or defensively
  • Engage and maintain strong relationships with key reporters across a myriad of issues
  • Conduct persuasive writing and critical editing of both external communications (statements, pitches, press releases, op-eds, etc.) and internal messaging (talking points, companywide memos, regulatory communications, etc.)

Essential skills:

  • 3-4 years of relevant work experience in strategic and/or crisis communications roles, media relations or a related field. Prior experience at a communications firm is not required though is a strong plus.
  • Experience in corporate communications, particularly as relates to reputation management
  • Strong and demonstrable writing and editing skills spanning a variety of communications-oriented work
  • Experience in leading crisis communications situations, including experience managing media engagement around crisis needs
  • Project or client management skills in a PR and/or media environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with reporters at top-tier outlets
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with varying levels of staff, clients and the media

Note: Interested in this role but it’s not quite the right match? Applicants who meet some but not all or exceed the above criteria are still encouraged to apply! We are eager to speak with candidates with diverse backgrounds and can assess role leveling on an individual basis.
