Summary/Objective:

Responsible for interpreting and applying U.S. GAAP while monitoring accuracy of general ledgers and financial & regulatory reporting. The position will maintain a high level of understanding of organizational wide processes to ensure credit union operations are accurately recorded in the financial statements. This position will proactively problem solve, seek improvements and find efficiencies while maintaining the highest level of service quality. This position has a significant role in the month-end financial close & regulatory reporting processes, will lead departmental & organizational projects and will be a mentor to team members.

Essential Functions include:

Essential Function

Oversee and prepare GL reconciliations, journal entries, and implementation of new general ledger accounts as assigned. Independently research and answer reconciling issues and/or requests. Includes:

·         Manages the general ledgers and reconciliations related to mortgage and secondary markets and ensures daily wires and fundings are completed accurately and adequate documentation is received.

·         Oversee the reconciliations and reporting related to loan/share charge offs and recoveries.

·         Support and setup new products, evaluate proper accounting treatment and expiring GLs and system settings as needed.

Provides significant support in the month-end financial close process by analyzing general ledger results, determine necessary accrual adjustments, performs general ledger entries, completing and providing commentary related to month/month financial variance analysis and preparing various reporting as assigned.

Maintains a high level of understanding of credit union processes and ensures results of such operations are accurately recorded in the financial statements with the proper accounting treatment. Evaluate needs of the business to determine and implement efficiencies, create and update processes and procedures as necessary and participate in enterprise-wide project initiatives.

Prepare, review and/or maintain regulatory and annual financial reporting including FR2900, NCUA 5300 Call Report, FHLB’s QCD, Visa Quarterly and annual IRS 990 filing. Assist with regulatory audits, internal audits and exams as assigned.

Oversee and manage fixed asset inventory by determining proper accounting treatment, accurately setup and dispose of assets timely within the system, and prepare the annual fixed asset roll forward.

Assist in budget preparation including quarterly reforecasts. Includes overseeing the Capitalized Loan Fee and Expense accounts, periodically review assumptions with departmental leaders and make recommendation for changes as needed.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance

- 5+ years Accounting experience

- Understanding of accounting principles and the application in a financial institution environment.

- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with a strong ability to learn and interact with web-based software. Literacy in the use of personal computer applications and ten-key is necessary

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience:

- Financial institution experience is preferred

Work Environment:

Compensation information:

The person hired into this position will likely earn between $73,162.88 and $82,000, plus annual bonus.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, licensure requirements and/or skill level, and will be finalized at the time of offer.
