ABOUT THE ACCOUNTING TEAM

The Accounting team works closely with the Client Finance and Operations teams while managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate record keeping and analyzing financial data. Our team of experienced accounting professionals also prepares financial statements including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, to provide an overview of the company's financial health while also handling budgeting, tax planning, auditing and financial tasks.

 

ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking a Senior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a solutions-oriented and analytically minded individual who will approach work with a sense of possibility, sees challenges as opportunities and has a relentless passion and curiosity for process improvement. 

Job responsibilities include assisting with financial analysis and reporting, month-end close processes and providing summaries of monthly billing and reconciliations.

Role location: This role is available on a remote basis within the United States or within one of our offices in New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C. on a hybrid basis. Accounting staff based in our New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C offices are in-office at least 2 days per week. Proof of vaccination is required to work in any of BerlinRosen’s offices.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a Senior Accountant on the Accounting team, you will:

  • Prepare, analyze and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements while reviewing with the Controller
  • Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy, including partner entity entries
  • Prepare journal entries, review them with the Accounting Manager and ensure proper documentation and schedules

  • Coordinate and actively participate in month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Maintain financial records including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, corporate cards and bank reconciliations

  • Analyze, investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial reports

  • Work closely with the client finance team for each practice team to accurately align financial reports 

  • Effectively utilize accounting software and tools to streamline financial processes and reporting

  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives, such as system upgrades, process improvements and streamlining accounting procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information discreetly

  • Stay up to date on accounting standards, regulations and industry best practices

Essential skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in a full-cycle accounting roleStrong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, dashboards, advanced formulas, etc.) 

  • Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of GAAP, accruals and revenue accounting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with finance stakeholders

  • Able to manage workload, prioritize and streamline tasks to ensure accuracy and take an ownership-mentality in work

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions

  • Audit experience

  • Experience working with NetSuite

WORKING AT BERLINROSEN

Compensation philosophy: BerlinRosen offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.  

The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows: 

  • Starting minimum: $90,000

  • Role cap: $105,000
