About the Role
Caribou is looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage our accounts payable function and multiple month end accounting processes . As a member of Caribou’s Finance team, you will report to the Assistant Controller and work closely with colleagues in Finance & Accounting. The Accounts Payable Manager will:
- Manage the Accounts Payable department in order to receive, enter, and process accounts payable invoices, while ensuring invoices are appropriately coded in the general ledger.
- Oversee the ACH, wire and check run process to pay vendors and employees on a timely basis within specified terms.
- Implement best Accounts Payable practices and share knowledge to promote process standardization within the organization when applicable.
- Correspond with vendors and expense business owners when necessary to respond to inquiries.
- Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information, reconcile related GL accounts to Accounts Payable sub-ledger, enter journal entries as needed to ensure accuracy of financial statements under US GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries and month end account reconciliations for prepaids and accruals.
- Manage the employee expense reimbursement process to ensure compliance with travel and expense guidelines on a timely basis to meet payroll processing deadlines
- Manage the company credit card program, including preparation of transaction uploads to general ledger system, receipt collection and reconciliation of month-end account balances.
This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC and Denver, CO. Alternatively, the Senior Accounts Payable Specialist may work remotely from a state where Caribou does business. However, this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings.Â
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience, with 3 years in accounts payable required, working in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls experience a must.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Â ERP systems experience required, NetSuite a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and be able to manage large datasets
Our interview process usually takes place over Google meet and will consist of the following steps:
- Recruiter Phone Interview (30 minutes)

- Peer Interview (30 minutes)
- Executive Interview (30-45 minutes)
