Senior Azure APIM Developer

We are seeking an experienced API Developer who brings over 5 years of expertise in developing APIs using Azure APIM. In this role, the candidate will take on the following responsibilities:

- Transition IBM API-Connect hosted APIs to Azure APIM
- Apply existing API-Connect policies to the new Azure APIM APIs
- Integrate the new APIs into the existing backend services
- Distribute APIs hosted in Azure APIM across different settings
The ideal candidate has a history of crafting API products and APIs within Azure API Management, implementing API policies, and leveraging modern API technologies such as RESTful services and GraphQL. This position demands knowledge of Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage APIs hosted on Azure API Management (APIM), ensuring they adhere to performance, security, and scalability standards
• Establish and maintain API policies covering security, throttling, caching, and custom scripting
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, architects, and DevOps, to integrate APIs with existing systems
• Diagnose and remedy issues related to API performance, security, and functionality
• Monitor API usage and performance utilizing tools such as Azure Monitor and Application Insights

Requirements

• 5+ years of specialization in API development concentrated on Azure APIM
• Proficiency in RESTful API design, OpenAPI specifications, and microservices architecture
• Background in API security protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and JWT
• Strong coding ability in languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Capability to work in a Jira-managed agile/scrum-based environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure
• Skills in Azure API Management API development and configuration
• Flexibility to use Azure for API deployment
• Strong problem-solving and effective communication skills
