Overview of the Position
Strategic Sourcing serves as a trusted advisor to senior management by having a deep understanding of the company's spend profile, utilizing advanced analytics, and minimizing risk via supplier governance and working closely with risk governors across the enterprise. The Real Estate team is a sustainable real estate operation that focuses on strategic value-added solutions for business unit needs, while managing service levels that keep our operating environments productive and safe.
Reporting to the AVP, Analytics & Reporting, the Consultant Business Intelligence will serve as SME & lead Tableau Developer to support reporting, analytics, and the facilitation of insights to the organization. This will include sourcing and real estate spend, contract analytics, Hartford Next Savings, and development of metrics for Procurement Operations.
The ideal candidate will have a strategic perspective, an aptitude for collaborating with business partners and a focus on delivering actionable insights. They should be able to make decisions quickly, both independently & in consultation with team members, build relationships, actively participate in teamwork, understand the dynamics of the business, and operate with a sense of urgency.

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$84,320 - $126,480

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the SME and lead developer of reporting and analytical products
- Design and build reports, processes, and analyses with a variety of business intelligence technologies (e.g. SQL, Tableau, Excel)
- Gain understanding of source to pay system (Coupa) and apply knowledge for research and analytics using functionality in the tool
- Design & develop interactive, automated dashboards with Tableau using advanced visualization techniques
- Consult with internal customers (e.g., Sourcing, Real Estate, Procurement Operations, Supplier Diversity) to develop analyses that help deliver impactful, actionable insights
- Apply data visualization principles and best practices to effectively tell the story behind large, complex data sets
- Drive process efficiencies to spend less time on data preparation to enable improved reporting and higher quality analytics
- Support integration of spend sources within SSRE DataMart in partnership with our analytics team and Enterprise Data Organization
- Champion data quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the department by designing and promoting best practices
- Build and foster relationships with SSRE as well as Business and Technical partners
- Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of the organization
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders / data consumers, represent the data & analytics function and embrace Data Quality principles and client service
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Economics, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related critical thinking discipline
- Confirmed ability to design exhibits, dashboards, and presentations that "tell a compelling story"
- Technical knowledge: 3-5 years' experience with various tools used for data exploration and business intelligence (e.g., Toad, SQL, Oracle, SAS, R, Excel, Tableau)
- Strong MS Excel and data analysis skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with a proven ability to influence all levels in an organization and with vendor partners; demonstrated success in leading others to a shared vision and common framework
- Strong consulting skills: proven ability to gather and define requirements and successfully deliver results
- Working knowledge of data warehouse design and usage
- Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and data manipulation skills
- A creative, critical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Confident self-starter capable of driving projects to completion
- Experience with agile BI project delivery methodology
- Must be able to work on multiple concurrent projects
