Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an individual who wants to help bring the creatures and characters of Azeroth to life by rigging and skinning them in resourceful, efficient ways while also providing secondary animation support for them as necessary. Help us push the development of the WoW rigging pipeline by working closely with and supporting the character, animation, and props teams, working on tech art tools, surfacing inventive solutions, researching new industry tech as it applies to rigging and physics, and problem solving. The ideal person is passionate about building great rigs, creating energetic physics simulations, and working with great people. We are also looking for a candidate who is highly collaborative, self-motivated, with the insight to identify problems and the ability to tackle and solve them. Does that sound like you? Day to day tasks

  • Create rigs and rigging systems for characters, mounts, props, and creatures
  • Work closely with character artists to make sure character models are created properly and are ready to be rigged
  • Create physics simulations using both proprietary and non-proprietary tools for DCC and in-game
  • Partner with animators and modelers to assist with various secondary animation setups
  • Create, edit, and manage tools for animation and physics simulations
  • Able provide insight and creative solutions or alternative approaches about rigs, animation, and secondary animations
  • Communicate across departments
Your background

  • High level of experience rigging and skinning in Maya
  • Mid level of experience with physics simulations and secondary animation (Example nCloth, Havok, PhysX, or Chaos)
  • Knowledge of 3D software (Example Maya or 3DS Max)
  • Knowledge of a common programming language (Example Python, MEL, MaxScript, C#, C++, or Lua)
  • Deep knowledge of rigging
  • Ability to take on mentoring responsibilities
  • Understanding of animation principles and fundamentals and how they apply to creating rigs
  • Understanding of physics fundamentals and how they apply to both offline and in-engine simulations
  • Great organization and communication skills

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
