Senior Cloud Operations Engineer - Remote

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

This is a remote role within First Citizens Bank's Cloud Services team, specifically focused on maintaining and optimizing cloud environments. The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer will serve as a key player in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the bank's cloud operations. This role is responsible for providing first-line incident management, performing maintenance activities, and supporting platform and application teams.

The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer will be tasked with cloud infrastructure maintenance, patch management, and incident response. This role involves configuring and maintaining backups, logging, monitoring, and alerting across the bank's cloud environments. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide hands-on support, assist with troubleshooting, and guide the operational practices for maintaining a highly available and secure cloud infrastructure. This position also involves collaboration with other cloud teams to provide seamless support to platform and application teams.

Responsibilities

• Respond as the front-line for cloud infrastructure incident management and troubleshooting.
• Perform maintenance activities including patching, updates, and system health checks.
• Configure and maintain backup solutions for cloud resources to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Set up and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting to provide visibility into cloud infrastructure health.
• Automate deployment pipelines, system configurations and monitoring solutions using IaC tools
• Support platform and application teams in their use of cloud infrastructure, assisting with configuration and optimization.
• Collaborate with other teams to escalate and resolve complex issues efficiently.
• Document maintenance procedures, incident resolutions, and support processes for knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for cloud operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in cloud OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in cloud

Preferred Experience:

• 8 years of experience in cloud operations, infrastructure support, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with AWS and Azure Cloud Services.
• Experience with incident management and troubleshooting in cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with patch management, system updates, and maintenance tasks.
• Advanced knowledge of backup, logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Certifications:

• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate
• Azure Administrator Associate
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate

If hired in Arizona, the base pay for this position is generally between $123,000 and $171,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
