Job Description
The Senior Cost Accountant is an integral part of the PK Finance Team working at our Wichita Corporate office with an expectation of quarterly travel to the PK Industrial Corpus Christi Division. This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the cost accounting system, incorporating understanding of manufacturing operations, and generally accepted accounting practices. This position will report directly to the Controller of PK Industrial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:
Responsibilities
- Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Develop project budgets and track actual expenses to ensure projects are completed within budget.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Prepare regular financial reports for review to the PKI Controller and General Manager of Corpus.
- Analyze and report profit margins to Project Managers/General Manager/Controller
- Ensure billing is prepared accurately and submitted to Corporate on a timely basis.
- Ensure AP invoices are approved, coded, and submitted to Corporate on a timely basis.
- Manage Work in Process and prepare month end journal entries.
- Verify material on hand as part of the month end close process.
- Quarterly travel to the Corpus Christi office is required. More frequent travel will be required until fully trained.
Other Accounting Responsibilities
- Create ad hoc reports and work on special projects throughout the month.
- Assist the PKI Controller with the annual review.
Skills / Experience necessary
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or 10 years' experience in relevant industry
- 2-5 years manufacturing or industrial services accounting experience
- Strong critical/analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Must possess excellent organization and communication skills.
- Microsoft Office experience required with emphasis in Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
