Senior Data Engineer

The Role:  

You will be designing, implementing and owning data engineering solutions across global projects and products. Your role involves architecting and building scalable data pipelines, optimizing storage systems, and enhancing data infrastructure performance. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, proposing innovative solutions.  

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll ensure data quality and accessibility while contributing to the company's overall data strategy. You'll also have opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence best practices in data engineering across multiple squads. 

What you need for this role: 

• 5+ years of professional software development experience in data engineering. 
• Expert proficiency working with PySpark, Python, SQL, and Delta Lake. 
• Experience with active management of data quality (including monitoring and alerting) 
• Experience in designing and implementing efficient data pipelines utilising CI/CD, optimizing query performance, and tuning data systems to ensure scalability in large-scale data environments. 

Ideally with experience of 

• Working with cloud data architectures (preferably Azure), including data lake and Databricks technology and event-driven architecture. 
• Experience working with other cloud-based data management environments such as Kafka 

 What you’ll do 

• Data Quality: Contribute to initiatives that improve data quality across data products. Implement validation processes, data cleansing techniques, and quality assurance measures to ensure the delivery of accurate and reliable data assets. 
• Technology: Stay updated on current data engineering technologies, frameworks, and methodologies. Participate in evaluating and recommending appropriate tools and languages to enhance data processing, storage, and analysis. Adopt and promote industry best practices for internal tool development. 
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the data engineering group. 
• Business Acumen: Understand the relationship between technical solutions and business needs. Ability to translate data concepts into insights that align with business objectives. 
• Communication: Strong ability to collaborate across teams and effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, supporting data engineering initiatives.
