CACI is seeking a candidate for a Database Administrator Level 5 position with knowledge and proficiency in enterprise database technology. This position is specifically targeted for database software development which requires programming skills in addition to the same skills and knowledge level as a Database Administrator in order to design, build, and test successful software solutions that heavily rely on database technology. The candidate will:
- Establish and maintain security and integrity controls.
- Formulate and monitor policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
- Propose and implement enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.
- Identify customer database requirements.
- Define optimal conceptual, logical, and physical data models that address customer requirement and balances performance (e.g., indexes, views, snapshots) and storage (e.g., normalization, de-normalization).
- Incorporate security, back-up, and disaster recovery into database designs.
- Establish database parameters that maximize database performance.
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
- Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Develop and verify shell/SQL scripts, packages, and stored code for system enhancements.
- Develops cost estimates for software developments or enhancements.
- Conducts impact analysis for software changes.
- Works closely with business analysts, designers, and subject matter experts to understand functional requirements.
- Conducts unit tests and documents findings.
- Supports formal testing in controlled environment before code is promoted to production.
- Writes interfaces and conversion routines leveraging the application programmatic interface (API).
This position requires onsite reporting in Norfolk, VA 2-3 times a week
What You'll Get to Do:
As a Database Administrator with an emphasis on database software development you will be the database development lead supporting a team that manages development and many aspects of production operations of custom government software applications. Oracle PL/SQL is an essential skill set that is used throughout the applications which run on Windows servers utilizing an Oracle based data tier. Developers will design, implement, code, test and maintain code according to design documentation, industry best practices, and established software development standards. The person will prepare, and review system documentation composed by development teams. In addition, they will perform modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures. The person will support software development and test teams throughout the software development lifecycle. The person will also provide technical support to production operations. Support is frequently required to mitigate anomalies resulting from large complex weekend batch operations.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- 5+ years' experience with Oracle
- 5+ years' experience PL/SQL development
- 10+ years of overall IT experience
- Security + CE certification
- Active Secret clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- A Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science is preferred.
- Experience using Quest TOAD.
- Database modeling expertise.
- Experience with financial systems.
