Senior Designer

About the Role:

The Senior Designer is a seasoned illustrator and packaging designer that will be the point person on our retail efforts with in-store POP display advertising and branded artwork showcasing our diverse portfolio of natural, personal care products. Specifically, this role will innovate, design, and flesh out limited edition packaging efforts and retail design solutions across varying products and in-person display and purchase touchpoints. This person will be the main point of contact for retail display efforts, both internally and externally, but should be well-versed and ready to assist with packaging, branding, digital, print and internal design needs regularly. As a member of the Marketing team, the Senior Designer will also work closely with the Product team to execute on retail display and packaging development including systemic artwork refinement, color matching and press checks.

The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $80,000 to $100,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

• Draft and develop innovative and attractive design solutions that showcase our product packaging and retail branding that maximizes customer engagement; all with an eye for hierarchy, effective design systems, eye-catching graphics, and beautiful typography. 
• Work cross-functionally to lead the artwork development process with both internal and external supply chain partners 
• QA physical display and retail packaging samples, color swatches, and press sheets (which may require travel), and assist with the cross-functional approval process for all retail and packaging development 
• Lead and support the design of additional materials such as sell sheets, product brochures, POS catalogs, and other items that aid in our retail efforts. 
• Maintain consistency across all design systems, suggest efficiencies, develop improvements, and ways to streamline workflow 
• Report to the Senior Art Director and partner with the Packaging Designer and Packaging Engineers to ensure Dr. Squatch is always looking its very best on shelf and in the home. 

About You:

• At least 5+ years of proven experience in retail, advertising, and packaging design 
• Bachelor’s degree in Design / Visual Communication, and owner of a diverse portfolio of design and illustration success 
• Adobe Creative Suite experience is required 
• Illustration expertise is required
• Proven experience of the design and execution of custom advertising displays and packaging with domestic and overseas vendors 
• Strong understanding of dieline and package development 
• Comfortable with a rapidly evolving work environment, and experience with taking initiative in  a scrappy start-up setting 
• Experience in the CPG industry is a plus 
• Experience with retail-specific display and packaging requirements is required 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• A can-do attitude with a focus on team support and collaboration 
• General interest in health, wellness, and all things Squatchy
