The Senior Director of Process Development is accountable for continuously developing the people, manufacturing processes, and business strategies required to drive our programs from discovery to the clinic, and ultimately the marketplace. The successful candidate will lead and drive the team and site responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling the upstream and downstream biologics manufacturing operations, and for developing and validating the analytical methods required to ensure process robustness in a phase appropriate manner.


This pivotal role will represent process development efforts across the organization and integrate closely with the Research department, the CMC project teams, and contract development manufacturing organizations. The individual will work cross-functionally with internal and external partners to deliver novel pipeline candidates for neurodegenerative diseases.


During your first year, you will:

  • Set strategy for our Process Development team across multiple complex drug candidates, prioritize resources to plan and budget and drive decisions and actions consistent with our company goals
  • Work closely with our Research teams to drive novel molecules using our Alector Brain Carrier technology toward the clinic
  • Collaborate throughout R&D to devise comprehensive strategies for insourcing and outsourcing preclinical efforts as appropriate
  • Provide scientific and strategic guidance, as well as mentorship, to all Process Development staff
  • Lead the transition of pre-clinical programs to GMP manufacturing at leading CDMOs with our Tech Ops team
  • Pursue and employ emerging technologies to ensure our processes are innovative, portable, and scalable

We would love to hear from you if you possess:

  • BS/BA, MS/MA or PhD in a scientific subject area or related field
  • Excellent people leader and mentor; exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant experience developing, improving, scaling, and transferring biologics manufacturing processes. Maintains a deep understanding of product quality control strategies
  • Hands-on experience developing monoclonal antibodies, bi-specifics, and fusion proteins
  • Extensive experience developing robust cell lines and high-yielding processes
  • Self-motivated problem solver
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and with partners
  • Ability to influence peers, colleagues, and senior leadership
  • Strong self-awareness of the impact communication and working style has on others
