What You’ll Do
Samsung’s San Jose Location Group in US was established in October 2012 to develop industry leading location technology for mobile and wearable applications. US team is driving our technology forward for future generation products. Our main activities include architecture definition, silicon design, algorithm and software development, and platform integration. The Location Group is now part of Samsung’s Application Processor and Modem Group. We work closely together to develop highly integrated products, and to find opportunities to optimize our products for market success. The group is looking for an experienced Motion Sensor Software Engineer (any suitable level).
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

- Develop, implement C/C++ code for the Motion Sensor algorithms within our embedded software.
- The algorithms would involve new / improved Pedestrian Navigation and Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) using GNSS and / or various motion sensors (e.g. accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, pressure and image sensor) under challenging environments and scenarios.
- Tune various parameters in the software so that KPIs (Key Performance Indices) are improved within customer specifications.
- Improve the software implementation for efficiency to reduce throughput and CPU/RAM usage.
- Develop necessary software tools for the analysis.
- Prepare technical report on algorithms, software and test results.
- Potential travel to support customers or collaborate with team members, domestic and international.
What You Bring
- Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 3+ years or PhD with 0 years in Electrical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering or related field preferred.
- Embedded software development in C/C++ and rapid prototyping in Python or MATLAB.
- Hands-on experience in Motion Sensor software development, GNSS/MEMS integration and sensor fusion.
- Understanding about VIO (Vision Inertial Odometer) is plus.
- Experience with Jira, Gerrit, Git.
- Analysis of complex software to determine anomalies and potential areas of improvement.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Able to work with minimal supervision while working in a team atmosphere.
