Senior Firmware Engineering Manager

Alarm.com is seeking an ambitious and talented Firmware Engineering Manager with a B.S., M.S., Ph.D. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a similar engineering background, and experience in IoT multimedia applications. This position is ideal for candidates who are excited to work with various video and audio multimedia technologies in embedded Linux and microcontroller environments.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and train a team of firmware developers for Alarm.com's smart cameras.
• Proficient in Multiple Programming Languages and Code Review
• Research, design, and implement highly reliable embedded firmware and software.
• Collaborate with electronic design engineers on system design and integration of firmware and hardware components.
• Responsible for managing multiple engineers’ tasks in achieving product development timelines
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate camera firmware with the backend, mobile app, and other Alarm.com devices.
• Work with senior management on company goals and strategies for Alarm.com's cameras.
• Other duties as assigned

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 8+ years of work experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing a team of engineers.
• Strong C and C++ (C++11 or later) development in an embedded Linux environment.
• Experience with Linux kernel driver development and protocols such as UART, SPI, i2C, GPIO, and USB.
• Knowledge of video compression standards and frameworks, such as gstreamer, FFmpeg, H.264, and MPEG.
• Good understanding of networking protocols relevant to video, such as UDP, TCP, RTP, RTSP, and WebRTC.
• Shell scripting experience and solid understanding of various Linux IPC mechanisms.
• Experience with buildroot or other embedded Linux build systems.
• Familiarity with build systems such as CMake or Meson.
• Experience in sensors, computer vision, and Gstreamer is a plus.

The salary range of this opportunity is $170,000 - $190,000 + bonus.
