What You Will Be Doing

The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for driving the development and maintenance of our technical training programs, training materials, and video tutorials. This role will work closely with internal customer teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Compliance, Support, and others) to ensure accurate and timely technical training is available for all ChargePoint hardware and software products. You will collaborate with technical writers and technical illustrators to develop interactive training experiences for installers and other technical audiences. To be successful at ChargePoint this person must be highly motivated, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

 

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

  • Create interactive learning activities, course content and certification programs to install, use and service ChargePoint products (hardware and software) including plan to bring content inline with current styles and standards
  • Develop training curriculums based on performance and training needs analysis tools to determine the appropriate training medium
  • Create and edit instructional videos and animations using video editing software
  • Able to learn complex hardware products quickly and produce technical training with the assistance of subject matter experts
  • Analyze and understand various software systems to translate that into a comprehensible training format
  • Actively gather information from and collaborate with engineers, QA engineers, portfolio and product managers to identify and capture learning content
  • Develop scalable solutions to ensure all training programs are consistent and ready for a global audience
  • Knowledgeable about best practices for creating localized content for global audiences and preparing it for localization by third party vendors.
  • Design, develop and conduct assessments and evaluations
  • Project manage all phases of a learning project – analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistency and clarity across all training and documentation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years in the design and development of instructional material in a complex product environment (Hardware AND Software)
  • Ability to create digital content with clean aesthetic design and layout under specific brand guidelines, with a focus on overall user experience
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and its application to learning solutions
  • Able to write behavioral objectives, tests, and course materials using instructional design theories
  • Demonstrated ability to distill technical information from subject matter experts and translate it into training relevant to target audience
  • Highly effective presentation, facilitation, and questioning skills with a strong ability to provide clarification and feedback
  • Ability to script, record, and edit audio voiceover narration for the training content.
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 or other eLearning course authoring tools is required; experience with MadCap authoring tools a plus.
  • Proficient in raster and vector-based image editing with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficient in video editing and production with non-linear editors (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Experience with implementation, configuration, and maintenance of learning management systems (LMS)
  • Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of frontend web development (HTML, CSS, some JavaScript) is a plus
  • Knowledge of 3D rendering, animation, and production of realistic product visuals from 3D assets is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Curriculum Development or Instructional Design/Technology
    • Education degree acceptable
