Job Description

PayIt is a fast-growing GovTech company on a mission to bring governments and people closer together through our award-winning, SaaS platform.

When PayIt started, it was difficult (or just plain impossible) to renew a Driver’s License or pay a court ticket in a mobile, quick, or convenient way. PayIt, along with our award-winning government partners, has made processes like going to the DMV or to a county courthouse, one that you can do right from your smartphone or computer. Since then, PayIt has been building an entire business toolkit for local and state government agencies while simplifying doing business with government agencies by consolidating hundreds of services and payments into one connected experience for citizens. Meanwhile, through our secure cloud-based platform, we have reduced friction for the everyday citizen, making digital government services accessible, equitable, and efficient.

We recently received a large growth investment in August 2022 and are well funded, we have picked up awards from Forbes, FAST Design (alongside McDonald’s and Nike), our CEO has won EY Entrepreneur of the Year award, and we have been recognized as a leader in our industry as a GovTech 100 the past six years in a row.

About the Senior Manager, Event Marketing role

Reporting to the Director of Demand Generation, the Sr. Manager of Event Marketing drives a key element of PayIt’s overall reputation and demand creation strategies. They will create face-to-face experiences that build market awareness of PayIt’s transformational products and bring prospective buyers and advocates together with our team for high-impact interactions that help our business grow. The scope of this role includes both large and small trade shows, owned events, and team enablement for small events.

The selected candidate will demonstrate a strong blend of creativity, program management, and business acumen that enables them to conceive and execute a full slate of events that break through a crowded field, tell our differentiated story, and remain within budget. They will be both a hands-on doer and effective strategist in their function, able to juggle multiple priorities while keeping the big picture in mind.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create and manage the annual plan and budget for events, defining a program that spans our market verticals and use cases, synthesizing input from field teams alongside your own assessment and data
  • Collaborate with your counterparts in marketing to ensure that events are thematically cohesive, effectively promoted, and aligned to our brand standards
  • Work with our brand and product marketing team to evaluate speaking opportunities, then manage submissions and feedback
  • Bring a creative and innovative approach to event activations that ensure we stand out and draw quality foot traffic and maximize the value for our investment
  • Work effectively with colleagues in sales, customer success, and product to ensure we put our best foot forward in our booths, demonstrations, and side events. Lead kickoff meetings, coordinate booth schedules, meeting setting, and ensure everyone is clear on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage all activities to budget and timeline; minimize surprises and mishaps to near-zero levels
  • Set, communicate, and measure expected outcomes from events, including leads and demos captured, pipeline influence, and revenue impact
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the numerous events, conferences, and associations in our market and continually recommend changes to the event marketing program based on your research and outcomes from our activities

What You'll Need to Have

  • At least 3 years of experience autonomously managing a portfolio of events, including trade shows, user conferences, and internal kickoffs in a B2B or B2G scaleup. Public sector experience is a plus but not required.
  • Deeply conversant with the role of events in the context of the broader marketing discipline and the key metrics that define an effective event marketing function
  • Meticulous attention to detail, able to develop and manage budgets, timelines, and vendors to produce high-quality programs
  • Effective communicator who leads through influence, manages up and across the business, and makes optimal use of colleagues’ time, skills, and effort
  • Demonstrated ability to learn the business drivers and dynamics of PayIt and that of the clients we serve
  • You are a culture amplifier and force multiplier in everything you do - your contributions will make PayIt an even better place to work and help the people around you grow
  • “No job too big or too small” attitude. We are a scrappy scaleup with big ambitions - you’ll be rolling up your sleeves to get stuff done while also advancing and optimizing a very critical part of our business
  • Frequent travel required in US and Canada (25%)

Why Work For Us:
