Role Overview
Senior Manager of SEC Reporting will be responsible for planning, preparation, and review of the Company’s SEC filings and accounting for all equity-based transactions. You will be a key member of the Accounting Team, reporting directly to the Senior Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting.
This position is preferred to sit out of our Charlotte, NC hub office (Hybrid work environment, 3 days per week), but will consider a virtual workplace as well if outside of Greater Charlotte area (Travel required 2 to 3 days per quarter).
What you'll do
- Manager of SEC Reporting will oversee the processes for:
- Quarterly and Annual SEC Reporting (10-K and 10-Q)
- Equity ownership filings (Form 4s)
- Equity account reconciliations
- Stock plan transactions and reporting (Options, RSUs, ESPP)
- Earnings per share compilation
- And will be a key part of:
- Drafting MD&A and researching disclosures for new transactions
- Quarterly earnings process
- Proxy report preparation
- Setting accounting policy and adoption of new standards
- Interacting with external auditors
- Forecasting stock-based compensation and shares outstanding
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Compliance with internal control testing
- Work with Corporate Accounting and Revenue Accounting Teams to plan, coordinate, prepare and review footnotes.
- Oversee statement of cash flows for accuracy and proper classification.
- Coordinate, review and collect comments on the various drafts; prepare support files; challenge the completeness and appropriateness of disclosures; complete relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires.
- Record stock-based compensation and close equity accounts in six business days.
- Analyze and explain quarterly stock-based expense variances.
- Lead internal controls and maintain internal control documentation for financial statement and stock-based compensation processes.
- Respond to auditor questions as part of annual and quarterly procedures.
- Prepare ad hoc reports for internal consumers and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and lead to completion process improvements that increase speed and accuracy of SEC reporting.
- Identify areas for process improvements, propose and implement solutions.
- Monitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC, US GAAP, PCAOB, or other regulations.
- Assist with technical accounting research and documentation of new policies and procedures.
- Leverage advanced technical accounting knowledge coupled with exceptional planning and organizational skills
What we're looking for
- CPA required
- 7 or more years of progressive accounting experience
- 5 or more years of SEC reporting experience
- Experience with one of following systems: NetSuite required and Shareworks by MorganStanley preferred
- Combination of private industry and public accounting experience
- Prior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX environment
- Experience with XBRL tagging
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required, Master’s preferred
