Reporting to:  Senior Director, Public Policy – North America

 Position Summary

The Sr. Manager of Federal Policy is responsible for federal policy efforts to advance transportation electrification and ChargePoint’s business interests. Must be goal-motivated, adaptable, a strategic thinker, and detail-oriented. Successful candidates will have experience working with Members of Congress and the Executive Branch, analyzing legislation, and advancing policy objectives in energy or transportation fields. This is not an entry-level position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spearhead ChargePoint advocacy and engagement with Congress and the Executive Branch.
  • Track, monitor, and analyze federal legislation and policy to develop ChargePoint policy positions and strategy for response.
  • Represent ChargePoint in meetings, hearings, and stakeholder groups, in coordination with ChargePoint policy directors and consultants.
  • Proactively build coalitions of diverse organizations with common goals to achieve policy outcomes of mutual interest.
  • Develop written comments, letters of support or opposition, oral testimony, and presentations.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and trade associations on messaging, policy development, and strategy.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in federal affairs.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Track record of successfully navigating Congress and the Administration.
  • Ability to speak publicly and write clearly, accurately, and persuasively.
  • Ability to identify, build rapport, and keep contact with key influencers in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.
  • Excellent people skills and an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to converse with and persuade stakeholders at all levels of management, including sales directors and C-suite executives.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to “manage up” and keen attention to detail.

ChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $102,000 to $184,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable. Actual base salaries are based on several factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications and specific work location.
