ChargePoint is looking for a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to manage the coordination of our revenue technical analysis and development of processes to ensure compliance with ASC606. The Senior Revenue Accounting Manager will engage with the business to provide revenue recognition compliant solutions including oversight of large contract review, non-standard sales deals, evaluation and development of new product contract structure, and supporting the development of reporting solutions for our internal stakeholders. This role requires both technical accounting and strong interpersonal skills to partner closely with General Accounting, IT, FP&A, Legal, External Reporting, Sales and other teams across the company.
This role reports to the Director of Global Revenue Accounting and is a people manager.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation of revenue accounting for current and contemplated contractual arrangements under ASC 606
- Provide thought leadership, guidance, and strategy on technical revenue recognition matters impacting the business; providing guidance to team members and other cross functional teams on how to apply revenue recognition guidelines for SaaS, leasing, and other contracts with customers
- Research and publish accounting memos to document the Company’s accounting positions
- Develop and enhance processes and controls around revenue related financial metrics.
- Contribute to the development of accounting solutions for enterprise projects, new product offerings and process simplification and improvements.
- Work closely with members of accounting, legal, investor relations, FP&A, and Order Management.
- Ownership, maintenance, and enhancement of revenue accounting policies for the Company
- Supporting the preparation of revenue related financial statement footnotes and MD&A.
- Assist in managing internal and external audits over revenue
- Assist IT in the testing and deployment of applications that impact revenue recognition
- Administer and streamline use of ARM, NetSuite, and other information systems for revenue transactions
- Investigate issues from different systems and implement solutions to these performance gaps
- Review and participate in the close process, including accuracy and completion of revenue, review of journals, flux analysis, reconciliations, SOX controls
- Assist in compliance with other external statutory reporting requirements
- Ad hoc special projects
- Full Cycle revenue and Order to Cash review
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience with at least 4 years at a Big 4 accounting firm
- Ability to manage a team
- CPA
- Subject matter expert in ASC 606
- SaaS, high tech experience
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong multi-tasking skills and flexibility to switch from one project to the next
- Hands on experience with month-end close, including preparation and review of journals, reconciliations, flux analysis and SOX controls
- Highly collaborative with the ability to effectively manage cross-functional projects
- Experience with NetSuite and NetSuite ARM preferred
- Self-starter able to work independently, complete work timely, and work well as a team member.
