Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the installation of network hardware. Configure routers, switches, and other network infrastructure in accordance with established guidelines. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the network environment. Must have an understanding of Juniper and Cisco switches, routers, monitoring systems.
- Monitor, tune, and upgrade the network to ensure optimum performance in accordance with established guidelines. Have operational experience in BGP, ISIS, and establishing peering relationships with other ISPs.
- Configure servers, VMs, and bare-metal systems in accordance with established guidelines.
- Proactively evaluate network infrastructure and service security, recommend improvements, perform preventative maintenance, and apply security updates as required by NIST guidelines. Implement security practices and procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
- Identifies, evaluates and implements network hardware and software products based on an assessment of operating requirements and strategies.
- Participate in the Agile formulation, development, implementation of applications and systems as needed. Provide subject matter expertise on inter-networking, routing related technologies, and networking services, such as DNS.
- Manage internal ticketing system and on-call support for critical network and system operations.
- Provide primary and secondary, escalated tier support for network-associated problems.
- This position is distinguished by exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority in the absence of the Director of IT. Employees in this position report to the Director of IT.
- Together with the Director of IT, designs and implements all security related functions for the network equipment. This also includes security monitoring, incident response, backup systems and procedures, as well as disaster recovery plans and tests. Cisco Firewall proficiency is required.
- This position shares responsibilities with the Director of IT in a variety of different areas, including but not limited to: Watchguard firewalls, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, VoIP Call Controls (Cisco, Avaya, Microsoft), video applications, QOS, IPsec VPN's and access control systems.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a US person as defined by the US regulations:
- Any individual who is granted U.S. citizenship
- Any individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder)
- Any individual who is granted status as a "protected person"
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and firewall technology (i.e ISR, ASR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)
- 3+ years working in a WAN environment Strong knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers and proxy servers
- High level architectural and operational experience with complex networks.
- Very strong knowledge of routing protocols (DMVPN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, GRE, IPSEC, VRF) and TCP/IP.
- Strong knowledge of IT security related to networks and applications with solutions to mitigate those issues.
- Must be able to work evening change request windows and provide on-call support after normal business hours as required.
- Must have experience creating/writing design documentation, diagrams and other project artifact deliverables
- Must be extremely resourceful in learning a very complex and dynamically changing network
- Must be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environment.
Education:
BA/BS in Information Technologies (relevant experience may be a substitute for education)
Certifications Required:
CCNA required (Cisco Certified Network Administrator)
Software Required:
Strong knowledge of Cisco technology, Microsoft Windows, Server, VM Ware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Office 365
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years electronic assembly experience including 3 years' experience with Unified Communication assemblies (Phones, Video, Computer, Switches, Routers, etc.)
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Able to create work instructions and other production related documentation
- Must be organized and detail oriented demonstrating high accuracy and thoroughness
- Ability to prioritize and manage a dynamic environment of competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects, while meeting critical deadlines
- Must possess good communications skills (written, oral, and interpersonal)
- Must be able to work cooperatively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years direct experience required in the management and administration of network infrastructure - routers, switches, etc. in a high-availability infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience with layer 2 network protocols switching, including but not limited to: 802.1Q tagging, STP (and its variations), LACP, etc.
- 3+ years of experience with IP subnetting
- 2+ years of experience with layer 3 network routing, including but not limited to: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- 3+ years of experience with access technologies such as LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS, TACACS
- 5 years of experience managing networks using best-practices including Load-balancing, High-availability, iRules and SSL termination.
- Knowledge of data center technologies, infrastructure, and methodologies
- Experience in DNS
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is also regularly required to stand and walk.
