About the Role

The Senior Principal Engineer, Display Technology & Cost Expert will work to achieve the profitability and growth goals defined by the leadership strategy through a cross-functional collaborative environment with Procurement, Engineering, Customer Account Management, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.

Your Team

This position will report to the Cost Engineering lead and will be an individual contributor role with no direct or indirect reports.

What You Will Do

• Act as Display expert for Harman Internal and customer on Manufacturing and cost elements of Display and vision system e.g: camera
• Consult Harman stakeholders for selecting Display Technologies and suppliers for in-car experience
• Judgment on efficiency and Technology of Manufacturing and assembly houses for Display and Display elements
• Lead and drive the technical definition and implementation of Display cost modeling solutions, including the identification of analytics that enable trend data to be established.
• Define and lead the integration of internal and external databases to build cost models that will establish Design-to-Cost targets for assemblies, and modules, designed into HARMAN Automotive products
• Define and drive the HARMAN "best practice" cost reference for the Harman Automotive products to a component level:
• Analyze and lead cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand all cost-influent factors for Benchmark purposes
• Establish close technical relationships with suppliers to identify the best cost solutions, including emerging technologies that provide cost improvements
• Lead collaboration with Engineering & Product Sourcing teams during the new business quoting phase to establish reference cost targets
• Contribute and Co-Leadership with Procurement teams during negotiating events with target costing and Source Board
• Creating professional reliable should-costs with internal or 3rd party tools

What You Need

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 12 years work experience in the following areas:
  • Manufacturing and assembly of electronic and Visual system assemblies
  • Cost engineering of Assembly systems
  • Commercial basics in Procurement, controlling, and accounting
  • Professional knowledge in Visual systems, Displays, and Cameras, integrated into an assembly, preferably in Automotive
  • Proven experience with complex assemblies, Displays, and Visual systems

• Proven technical leadership with demonstrated ability to lead and review the work of other cost engineers
• Demonstrated Strong ability to solve complex technical topics through structure solutions. Must be able to influence others to drive alignment on proposed technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to break down Assembly processes to component level
• Excellent presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics
• Proven team player and driver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of a global organization

What is Nice to Have

• Master's degree in engineering
• Work experience in developing cost models for components, modules, assemblies
