Senior Product Engineer

Job Description Summary

Leads all engineering aspects of life cycle management for current automatic transmission modules and components. Projects are complex, requiring cross-disciplinary integration and wide application of concepts. Provides written and verbal communication of program open issues to internal teams and the customer. Assists in creating/developing ideas for VAVE cost reduction. Supports root cause and corrective action of warranty returns. Works directly with OEM customer and suppliers to implement any changes required to mitigate current industry challenges.

Job Description

  • Plans, initiates, and tracks activities related to the validation of temporary or permanent engineering solutions.
  • Coordinates activities with product engineering and customer to gain written acceptance of proposed changes (i.e. Alerts, SREAs, PVP&Rs, etc.).
  • Analyzes and interprets test data, making appropriate design recommendations based on the results.
  • Develops test result targets that satisfy both customer and internal needs. Rolls down assessment of vehicle-level targets to system and component-level targets.
  • Communicates status and testing results to customer and internal departments via both written reports and oral presentations.
  • Provides technical direction to test technicians, manufacturing and process engineers.
  • Presents analytical reports to internal and external customers.
  • Advises and directs other analytical engineers and analysis project teams.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering and at least 3 years of product development experience.
  • Experience with full cycle product launch from concept to start of production within engineering product development processes preferred.
