The role...

The molecular biology team plays a vital role in supporting CST’s monoclonal antibody discovery platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and cloning expression constructs to support the company’s antibody discovery pipeline. Qualified candidates will have the ability to independently design and build expression constructs using their expertise in DNA sequence analysis, PCR, Molecular Cloning, and Plasmid production. They will also utilize collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced laboratory setting to deliver sequence verified plasmids to the end users.

You'll have the opportunity to...

• Design and build plasmids for the overexpression of proteins in mammalian cells
• DNA sequence analysis for plasmid verification
• Engineer proteins with addition of detection tags, introducing amino acid substitutions, building protein fusions, etc.
• Prepare plasmid preps for delivery to user groups within CST in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate physical inventories of plasmid stocks
• Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation, including hard copy notebooks and CST electronic records
• Adhere to standard operating procedures in lab operations and safety in according with Quality Management Systems
• Seek out technological opportunities that will improve quality, efficiency of the pipeline.

Who you are and what you bring to the team...

• Bachelors in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related discipline) and 4-6 years of lab experience or Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or related degree with 1-2 years of lab experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and cloning protein expression constructs.
• Molecular cloning techniques (e.g. PCR, Restriction enzymes, GoldenGate Assembly, Gibson Assembly)
• Plasmid DNA purification (e.g. miniprep and large scale)
• Plasmid QC (e.g. gel electrophoresis, quantitation, normalization)
• DNA sequence analysis software and plasmid map construction (e.g. MacVector, SnapGene, etc.)
• Proven ability to work in a high-throughput and fast-paced environment
• Exquisite attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to thrive in a team environment

Ideally, you have...

• Experience with automation platforms (e.g. Hamilton Robotics)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proven experience working successfully in a team environment
• Experience with Google Suite (or Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), LIMS, and JIRA
• Familiarity with antibodies a plus
