Senior Research Engineer I -Gypsum R&D

Position Description

Job Summary

CertainTeed is looking for a collaborative, talented, and energetic researcher to join our Gypsum R&D Raw Materials and Formulation group. The Senior Research Engineer I position will be responsible for managing alternative gypsum raw material projects.

Functions and responsibilities will include:

• Facilitate the development and implementation of new gypsum sources, separation techniques & calcination.
• Develop internal calcination process competency to transform gypsum into plaster, which includes the set-up of a lab-scale milling and calcination process, raw material qualification, and separation techniques.
• Collaborate with the internal CertainTeed teams: R&D, EHS, purchasing category manager, process team mining and operation team, and external partners: 3rd party companies, universities, and consultants.

Required Qualifications

• BS Degree with a minimum of 7+ years' experience or MS with 3+ years of experience plus demonstrated technical judgment/accomplishments or an entry-level Ph.D. in Engineering, Material Science, or other related technical disciplines
• Understanding of inorganic and gypsum chemistry, separation process of impurities, and wastewater regulation and permitting is a plus.
