Alarm.com is a rapidly expanding technology company developing innovative cloud and device solutions across a wide range of cutting-edge technologies that provide a unified, connected service to millions of residential and commercial properties in the US and abroad.  We are looking for talented and passionate embedded system engineers for the Device Engineering team to help us define the future of robotics and Internet-of-Things for residential and commercial properties by creating and integrating devices that connect with our robust cloud using next-gen communication stacks.  You will be working with a team of talented engineers across a diverse set of technological backgrounds to design devices, build and manufacture hardware, architect and implement software, and collaborate in an agile and fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in robotic and/or embedded software development with Linux platforms.
  • Experience with Linux kernel, board support packages, and multiple environments for embedded systems such as Yocto, buildroot, Ubuntu.
  • Expert in C/C++ coding following scalable and efficient software architecture and design principles on embedded platforms.
  • Familiarity with robotics frameworks and middleware such as ROS/ROS 2
  • Experience with embedded Qualcomm processors a plus
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Familiarity with container technologies, e.g. Docker, and cloud services, e.g. Azure.
  • Experience in taking complex software platforms from concept through production. Previous experience working with a Contract Manufacturer a plus.
  • Familiarity with wired and wireless communication protocols such as USB, TCP/IP, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Robotics Software Engineer’s primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Architect, integrate, and program Alarm.com’s advanced platforms in C++.  This includes maintaining and building images, BSPs, troubleshooting drivers, etc. 
  • Integrate robust and efficient networking paths leveraging custom protocols.  
  • Work with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to design and implement complex real-time algorithms on mobile robotic platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and debug embedded software in a Linux environment across multiple processors.
  • Work with external partners to build, test, and validate production hardware and software, including calibration rigs.
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as Quality Engineering, Software Engineering and Product Management to ensure on-time delivery of a fully tested and compatible platform that meets product requirements
