Senior Software Engineer (Mobile)

Aira is looking for a part-time or full-time Senior Software Engineer. You will be part of the Engineering team responsible for developing the Aira product, which includes our Java Spring Boot API platform, VueJS on Electron web applications, Android, and iOS smart apps, all using AWS for end customers and agents. You will be given the opportunity to work on part of or the entire stack, push projects and products that have the greatest business impact.

For this role specifically, we are looking for help in our Android and iOS swift smart apps. We currently have tens of thousands of users using our Android and iOS app today, leveraging WebRTC to provide real-time visual assistance software to the blind and low vision users. We are looking to expand our technology into other ways of providing remote assistance to everyone.

The ideal engineer would be switch-hitting between these applications in the medium term. If part-time is your option, this position will provide a W2 or 1099 (depending on your needs), no end date, and the hours vary based on need.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Android

• In-depth experience with rooting Android phones, native development, and USB drivers
• Understand and experience dealing with discrepancies between Android phones and versions
• Strong understanding of Android internals to build apps with good user experience and responsiveness
• Strong experience with deployment management through alpha, beta, and production in Play Store
• Plus: Currently have apps in the Play Store
• Plus: Worked with camera API, WebRTC and video streaming

iOS

• In-depth experience with latest iOS versions (eg. iOS 9, 10, 11), cocoapods
• In-depth experience with Swift/Objective C
• Strong experience with deployment management through iTunes Connect
• Plus: Have apps in the App Store
• Plus: Worked with camera API, WebRTC and video streaming

Pluses

• Good understanding messaging protocols like JMS/MQTT/AMQP
• Knowledge in working with video/audio streaming technologies like WebRTC
• Knowledge in video/audio codecs like H.264, H.265, VP8, VP9
• Worked with trace logging, and has done production support
• Uses Bitrise for CICD
