At Schwab, the Portfolio Accounting Technology Organization provides data to the front-end client channels (e.g. Schwab.com). The Services build are using leading edge technology such as PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) and Aerospike database technologies processing millions of requests per day and thousands of requests per seconds. The current goal is to scale the Web Services to handle 4X the current load by using cloud technologies, in-memory databases and code performance. The team gets in involved with working with all three tiers, some front end and the majority is middle tier and backend project work. The team works closely across a lot of business and technical teams across the company, because it supports all the client channels (e.g. Schwab.com, SSC.com, Mobile etc.) and business partners. This position is a great opportunity to grow and learn about technology and the financial industry. Also, there are a lot of interesting challenges that need to be solved on-going, because of the everchanging financial industry and the economy as a whole! You will be a high skilled developer who can solve complex problems and provide data to front-end applications via scalable and resilient restful web APIs. You will be working closely with team lead, tech lead, architect, product owner and other dependent teams to complete a project. You will grow as a subject matter expert of API including domain and technical knowledge to support any unforeseen production issues. You will bring innovative ideas that will help the project and team to be efficient and productive. You will be working in an Agile environment and will be participating all agile ceremonies. You will be supporting production deployment as needed.

What you have

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree
  • 3 years of experience as a mid-level software developer
  • 3 years of experience in:
    • Writing code using one of the object-oriented programing languages such as C Sharp (C#), Java
    • Writing unit tests using Test Driven Development method
    • Retrieving data from databases
    • Debugging legacy application and fixing bugs
  • Experience using dev ops tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Harness, GitLab, Bamboo
  • Experience of successfully leading a small to medium size projects
  • Experience of developing and deploying into Cloud platform
  • 2 years of experience of working on a team with agile environment
  • Experience of mentoring junior development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in developing highly scalable, resilient Web API using C# or Java
  • Experience of developing functional test using tools such as SpecFlow or Cucumber (Behavior Driven Development - BDD)
  • Experience of working with high collaborating team including stakeholders such as product owners and business analysts and other upstream and downstream teams.
  • Be able to produce technical documentations including designing the overall architecture, data model, and Open API Specs etc.
