Stryker is seeking to hire a Senior Staff Packaging Engineer to support Stryker's Instruments division. This role is hybrid, and located in Portage, MI. Stryker | Instruments

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a Senior Staff Engineer, Packaging, you will support changes to our existing packaging through the sustaining group. Through your technical mentorship and empowerment, you will ensure the project deliverables are planned and executed in compliance with the requirements of ISO11607.
You will:
- Develop/Provide technical standards and guidance in all design, development and change control activities
- Participate in component/service supplier selection process.
- Support and facilitate in maintenance and up-dates of compliance methods
- Oversee design reviews and give technical recommendations
- Utilize/manage Design Controls (NPDP); mentor others in the use of these tools.
- Ensure that all projects are of high-quality and meet both external/internal requirements
- Mentor and train packaging engineers in the NPD and Sustaining R&D teams
- Assist in analyzing and troubleshooting NPD and Sustaining Change issues
- Lead the creation of effective and applicable technical solutions that fit business needs and requirements
- Recommend new technologies to help improve productivity, usability, and compliance.
- Set the direction and oversee the workflow of other engineers within the scope of assigned projects.
- Work with teams to plan, prioritize, and complete project assignments
- Participate as a Snr role in risk assessments and mitigation activities
- Regularly attend meetings to discuss projects, issues, and ideas
- Participate in regulatory audits and ensure the implementation of the recommendations
- Perform business presentations to the Snr Divisional Leadership.
- Participate as a part of an Inter divisional team to review and devise Corporate Policies with respect to Medical Device Packaging.
- Interface with clinical advisors to gather input for design and evaluation of new product.
- Develop, review, and/or edit technical reports, conference abstracts and journal articles.
- Participate on cross-functional research and/or design teams to develop new product, address design issues, and maintain existing product designs.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Required:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Packaging, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design)
- 6+ years' experience in packaging. Experience in med device or pharma preferred.
Preferred:
- Experience with CAD
- Validation/Process experiences with sealing equipment.
- Clean room experience
- Experience driving sustainability initiatives.
- Ability to generate, follow and explain detailed proposals and operating procedures with an in depth understanding of ISO 13485 and FDA quality system requirements. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate packaging engineering principal's to all levels within the organization through oral and written means
- PC Literate (word processing, spreadsheets, data base) and strong knowledge of project Management tools
