Senior Finance Associate - Sustainability Controllership


We seek a Senior Finance Associate who will support Global ESG initiatives. This Chicago-based employee will be a connecter between Sustainability, Finance and our other ZS internal functions and be a core contributor to global sustainability initiatives, supplier engagement, audits, and reporting.

What You'll Do:

Support Global sustainability priorities for ZS, including:
  1. Sustainability & Emissions Reduction Strategy: Support implementation and advocacy of emissions reduction strategies across ZS to meet targets, including data collection and continual improvement, scope 1-3 emissions reduction initiatives, office operational improvements, and integrating sustainability into ZS internal processes.
  2. Environmental Reporting: Participate in yearly environmental measurement and reporting cycles, like; global emissions inventories and audits, service-level emissions allocations, GRI metric preparation and sustainability documentation for ESG reports, and submission to environmental platforms (EcoVadis & Carbon Disclosure Project [CDP]).
  3. Supplier Engagement: Coordinate with ZS procurement team on supplier sustainability engagement, supplier emissions data gathering, supplier metrics preparation (e.g., supplier diversity), and monitoring of supplier compliance with ZS expectations and code of conduct.
  4. Compliance and Risk Management: Coordinate climate risk and opportunity financial analysis, guide environmental aspects of materiality assessments, and support client questionnaires and reporting.
  5. Vendor Management: Manage budgeting, analyses, contracting, and activity with vendors such as emissions auditors, renewable energy providers, and strategy partners.


What You'll Bring:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Environmental Management or related field required with 2-5 years' work experience in a related field.
  • High motivation, strong work ethic and personal initiative
  • Ability to think strategically and willingness to dive down into the details.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges, step towards a problem, and prioritize continual learning of sustainability and ESG on-the-job.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. E.g., collaborating with stakeholders across different teams, levels, geographies and presenting sustainability to audiences of varied base-line knowledge
  • Excellent organizational and task management skills
  • Carbon accounting, emissions calculations/auditing experience r and experience with net zero planning and strategy preferred.
  • Exercises good judgement on when challenge versus lending support.
