What You'll Get to Do:
Responsible for functioning as a top technical expert supporting an enterprise technical infrastructure and leading architectural change. Studies and analyzes system needs, system development, systems process analysis, design, and re-engineering. Works with the enterprise to solve business problems with technology including hardware, software, databases, operating systems, and networks. Designs and defines information technology (IT) system architecture for integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise. Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards. Assists in the development and management of an architecture governance process. Maintains knowledge of changes in technologies.
More About the Role:
- Work with developers and other technical staff on the creation of technical specifications for new or updated systems
- Create and execute solution architecture roadmaps
- Converts business requirements into an architecture blueprint and conceptual design based on established standards and guidelines
- Works with infrastructure and software vendors on upgrades, performance, and other activities
- Works with other enterprise business systems teams to drive ensure consistent architecture across multiple systems and workstreams
- Analyzes and advises how changes impacts systems end to end
- Take ownership of architectural technical debt and create plans for improvements
- Modernize solution architectures of existing monolithic systems with minimal impact to end-users
- Analyze integration, reporting, and other technical problems to identify options and solutions based on past experience, industry best practices, and available software and infrastructure
- Participate in research and analysis efforts for replacing existing business systems and software infrastructure
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 7 years of related Systems Architect or Engineering experience.
- Requires the ability to analyze technical system requirements and provide detailed recommendations and guidance to software development teams and vendors on topics such as:
- Technical software design and architecture
- System integration design, architecture, and best practices
- Relational database design and usage
- Working knowledge of application networking including the use of ports and protocols in IP networking and firewall configurations
- Strong knowledge of architecture patterns and software design patterns and principles
- Ability to troubleshoot complicated system integration or architecture issues involving multiple COTS and custom systems required
- Experience in software development using modern development languages such as C#, C++, Java, etc. required
- Strong relational database / SQL background required
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Experience with integrating and/or developing back-office systems (i.e. Accounting, Contracts, HR, etc.) for a Government Contractor preferred
- Knowledge and experience deploying applications in a zero-trust network environment that requires explicit network permissions for all user-to-system and system-to-system communications
- Experience with API manage products
- Experience with developing, deploying, and integrating systems hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience in designing reporting data warehouses or other reporting infrastructure would be a plus
