Meredith Operations Corporation has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer in Des Moines, IA
The position duties are as follows: Responsible for working with teams to maintain the technical environment, including analyzing, defining, documenting, and communicating complex business solutions. Daily duties include:
  • Develop complex PL/SQL/UNIX/Python scripts to automate and solve business issues;
  • Ensure a secure integration between the financial systems with third party applications;
  • Keep abreast of latest technology and methods around Business Intelligence/Reporting technologies, Customer Relationship management system (CRM). Enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) and Financial Planning applications;
  • Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing applications require change or where new applications need developed, especially regarding future business expansion;
  • Partners with technical staff and architects to translate business requirements into technical specifications; Recommends appropriate scope of requirements;
  • Participates and supports the technical aspects in period close activities of the financial system
  • Supports the technical aspects to continue various business processes; Works collaboratively with the Business Analysis team and the ERP-Finance Director; Interacts with business users to identify requirements for data, reports, analyses, training, service levels, data quality, performance and new analytic application;
  • Coordinates service requests with technology providers, leveraging other business technology and IT resources;
  • Works collaboratively with other system engineers and provides guidance and project oversight for system engineers with less experience; Works with the team to perform technical code reviews; Mentors the tech team during design decisions and coding;
  • Takes direction from ERP - Finance Director for project and support initiatives;
  • Evaluates the pros and cons and make policy decisions on aspects that benefit the technical team; and
  • Validates whether the applications meet requirements and service level agreements.

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, a related technical field or foreign equivalent, plus 3 years of progressively responsible experience working as a system engineer, applications super user / administrator, or other technical capacity understanding, documenting, communicating, and executing business requirements. Experience must include:
3 years of experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL;
3 years of experience with Informatica Cloud;
3 years of experience devising integration development plans and strategies;
3 years of experience with integrations, development processes, and integration architectures;
2 years of experience with REST API development in Oracle Data Rest Services (ORDS) or similar;
2 years of experience with general accounting and financial reporting concepts;
2 years of experience with project management concepts and best practices;
2 years of experience with Unix Operating System;
Experience with working alongside Oracle BA's / functional experts on identified system gaps and building tech specs for CEMLI (Configurations, Extensions, Modifications, Localizations & Integrations) items that mitigate the systems gaps; and
Experience with technical documentation and use of Agile tools to maintain the tech standards and audit controls.
Role permits full-time telecommuting. Must be available during normal business hours U.S. CST
