Senior Technical Animator

PUBG Madison is looking for an Experienced Technical Animator to join our growing team. As a Technical Animator you’ll be expected to work alongside our Animators and Designers while creating rigs that answer the needs of both.  These rigs will range from characters, creatures, props, weapons, and vehicles.  The rigs you create should be visually inviting, logical in their design, and efficient in their foundation.  You will encounter complex asks from Animation and Design that have unclear solutions.  You must relish in these challenges and enjoy the process and exploration through to the final result.  All while helping to maintain the quality and organization of our pipeline.

• Create efficient and intuitive character, weapon, vehicle, and prop rigs
• Create and maintain DCC tools that help expediate content creation
• Work closely with the animation team, seeking constant feedback while collaborating on rigs and tools
• Collaborate with other departments to help improve character, weapon and vehicle pipelines and workflows
• Design and maintain organized, efficient, and scalable pipelines
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving animation issues
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Advance you skills and abilities by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, and learning new software packages

• 5+ years professional animation experience developing AAA titles
• Strong Computer Programming Skills (e.g. C#, C++, Python)
• Familiarity with Qt4/Qt5 (PySide/Pyside2/PyQt)
• Experience with a version control system (e.g. Perforce, Git, SVN, etc.)
• Experience with current consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X) preferred. 
• Experience developing rigs for Maya, and/or MotionBuilder
• Strong understanding of character deformations, weight painting, and asset skinning techniques
• Experience with Motion Capture data and related Animation workflows
• Experience in Unreal Technology
• Ability to adapt to new tools and tech
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with other disciplines and departments
• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong Linear Math and Algebra Skills
• Working knowledge of Houdini and VEX
• Unreal Blueprint or Kismet experience
