Senior Technical Writer

About the role: 

• As a Senior Technical Writer at Galileo, you’ll join a team delivering high-quality technical documentation that ensures both business users and developers understand Galileo's products and API platform. 
• You'll contribute new API documentation, product guides, and code examples as well as evolve our existing content.
• You'll work closely with product managers, developers, fellow technical writers, cross-functional stakeholders, and subject-matter experts throughout the company.
• To be successful in this role, you'll need the ability to both zoom out on the big picture and zoom in on the details.

What you’ll do: 

• Identify internal resources, interview stakeholders, and validate information with subject matter experts to accurately document complex financial technology topics and systems
• Develop documentation project plans and timelines that align with multiple teams' go-to-market activities for new products
• Write and edit technical documentation for Galileo's clients and developers that:
  • clearly and accurately describes our products and platform,
  • reinforces our content strategy, and 
  • amplifies Galileo's vision
• Collaborate with other writers to give and receive feedback on content drafts, reflect on team processes and resources, and iterate on the ways we work together to meet changing needs over time
• Partner with cross-functional teammates to create communication plans that ensure internal and external stakeholders know what documentation is available and why it matters to them
• Continually learn, unlearn, and relearn what our clients, their developers, and Galileo's internal teams need to be successful, and reorient content and project plans accordingly

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in technical writing, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience documenting APIs or other software for developer audiences using multiple types of content
• Existing knowledge of developers’ jobs and needs
• Superior written and verbal English communication skills
• Excellent strategic thinking and tactical execution skills
• Excellent relationship-building skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Proven ability to take initiative, navigate ambiguity, and work independently while maintaining alignment across a team

Nice to have: 

• Technical writing experience with financial technology API products
• Existing knowledge of at least one fintech sector, ideally in a B2B context (digital banking, card issuing, payment processing, etc.)
• Familiarity with enterprise organizational structures and typical needs of team members in key roles
• Ability to read and understand source code written in Python and JavaScript
• Experience working in multiple content management systems, including Git
• Experience aligning product documentation to an overarching content strategy
