Job Summary: Key member of the FPGA development team developing Register Transfer Logic (RTL) and digital signal processing (DSP) for use in communication datalink systems and other programs as required. The job includes all areas of FPGA development including creating requirements for RTL designs, selection of host programmable devices (FPGA or other), simulation/modeling of RTL design, implementation of design and hardware testing onto host FPGA, including unit and system level synthesis, timing closure, linting, test-bench creation, verification, integration, and hardware testing of the communication system, and documentation of the design. The role includes close liaison with the project engineering team. Good verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving skills are also required. Previous work experience and Knowledge of VHDL/Verilog development, DSP implementation, networking standards, communication theory, FPGA design environments, including ISE, Vivado, EDK, Modelsim, & Matlab is mandatory. Having advanced knowledge in RF front end, communication theory, DSP, Algorithm development, high-speed serial protocols, Python, TCL, C/C++, microblaze, is a plus. Performs complex engineering tasks. Acts as a senior technical consultant or project leader, and as a liaison with other departments, divisions and organizations. Provides technical direction to research, design, development, test and engineering activities. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Reviews project progress and evaluates results. Estimates cost, schedule, manpower, and technical direction for proposal efforts. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Provides technical direction to digital, analog, subsystem or radio frequency hardware development/engineering programs, team members and managers. • Outlines and communicates the most appropriate technical approach for business development activities.• Determines the technical direction and strategy for solving complex, significant or major issues.• Identifies, investigates and resolves technical issues. • Plans and evaluates system architectural design, reviews system performance and identifies technical risks and associated ways to mitigate those risks. • Analyzes and prepares specifications. • Participates in design reviews. • Designs, develops and implements hardware.• Coordinates circuit design of components.• Communicates technical advancements through briefings and technical papers to co-workers, management staff, customers, and technical community, as appropriate.• Maintains state-of-the-art awareness in areas of technical expertise - changes, advancements and improvements.• Applies expertise to all areas of electronic engineering and development.• Responsible for innovation and creativity in broad area of electrical engineering and development.• Provides functional or resource planning guidance to engineering and management staff or groups.• Interfaces with team members, management staff, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.• Identifies electrical engineering process improvements, and enforces the execution of them across the organization.• Manages engineering metrics.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in electronic engineering or related discipline plus a minimum of eight years experience; or an applicable Master of Science degree and 6 years of related experience. Experience to include hardware development/engineering, exercising creativity in technical direction and successful strategy development. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors, and deal with employees and managers at all levels in manufacturing, engineering and other departments. Ability to use typical office automation products such as word processors and spreadsheets. Knowledge of customer needs and competing products. Must be able to solve complex and difficult engineering problems. Ability to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. May be required to travel domestically and internationally to include working odd hours, in-line with customer requirements. Must be a United States citizen, eligible for security clearance.

Cubic Pay Range San Diego:

$100,000 - $122,430 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
