Senior WordPress Developer - Remote

Position/Project Summary:

A2 Hosting is currently looking for a senior level WordPress Developer to join our software development team. For this role, we are seeking an expert (5+ years of experience) WordPress developer with a proven track record of shipping production quality WordPress plugins and themes in a professional setting. This is not a theme development role.

Our team is in the early stages of development of a custom control panel application which will be used by our WordPress customers to manage their websites in an easy way. Our control panel application integrates tightly with WordPress via WP-CLI and custom plugins. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of the WordPress plugin ecosystem, WordPress hooks, and WP-CLI to help us build additional features for our control panel. Ideal candidates will also have a background in developing with the Laravel PHP framework. 

In addition to the control panel project, this role will collaborate with other members of the software development team on various other projects including A2 Optimized, our public optimization plugin, a WHMCS based client portal, our Helpdesk, as well as internal support tools.

Shift Information

• This is a highly collaborative position that has working hour requirements of 9:00am-5:00pm ET

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Software Development team to build features and maintain A2 Hosting’s custom control panel application
• Pair program with other members of the Software Development team on projects
• Document deployed systems, troubleshoot processes, design infrastructure, etc.
• Provide guidance and consultation on internal projects and company priorities
• Participate in scheduled on-call and bugfix rotations
• Act as a mentor and role model for less experienced members of the development team by providing guidance and technical advice on projects in addition to coaching and educational opportunities
• Perform related duties as assigned, within scope of practice, to ensure individual, team, and organizational success

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years developing production WordPress plugins in a business setting
• 5+ years Linux Systems Administration experience
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to communicate with team members and leadership
• Experience working with the Laravel framework a plus
• Experience with configuration management systems such as Salt a plus
• Experience working in an agile environment preferred, Jira experience a plus
• Experience in a web hosting or similar SaaS technology company is a plus
