Job Description
MOMA Therapeutics is looking for a Senior/Principal Scientist, Biochemistry & Biophysics
Imagine joining a company where…
- You will be part of an experienced and resilient team that is collectively unstoppable, trusts one another, and selflessly collaborates
- Everyone is committed to the discovery of transformative medicines for cancer patients
- You will drive your own development and contribute to the growth of the team and organization
- The work you do is critical to the success of the company
About MOMA Therapeutics
MOMA Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing inhibitors of highly dynamic proteins, namely ATPases, which play critical roles in a variety of Oncology indications. Our platform allows us to successfully prosecute drug discovery against difficult and unprecedented targets which are core cancer dependencies. MOMA is planning to initiate clinical development for two programs in 2024.
In this role you will…
- Apply your experience in a broad range of biochemical and biophysical techniques to advance MOMA’s small molecule discovery programs toward the clinic
- Lead internal and external efforts to thoroughly characterize the interactions of molecular machines with small molecule modulators in support of our programs and platform
- Develop and implement novel biochemical and biophysical assays and technologies to advance our understanding of the conformations, ligandable pockets, and interacting partners of molecular machines
- Evaluate, initiate, and oversee biochemical and biophysical activities across a world-wide network of CROs to balance our internal resources and drive projects to critical milestones
- Collaborate with structural biology and chemistry colleagues to progress compounds from hit validation through hit to lead activities into lead optimization and beyond
- Provide the mechanistic elucidation required for the optimization of potency and properties to enable characterization of our molecules in various pharmacological studies
- Contribute to the build and application of a platform of related enzymes to explore cross-functional activity of validated modulators of early targets
- Mentor internal and external scientists in the development, execution, and interpretation of biochemical and biophysical assays to support hit finding and lead optimization of small molecule modulators of molecular machines
About you…
- You are an experienced biochemist, biophysicist, or enzymologist with a passion for solving difficult scientific problems, who has at least five (5) years of small molecule drug discovery experience in a biotech or pharma setting, and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence
- You are skilled in biochemical and biophysical assay development and have experience using these techniques (e.g. FRET, TR-FRET, SPR, DSF, ITC, mass spectrometry) to elucidate the binding and mechanism of target modulators in small molecule drug discovery campaigns
- You like to build new things, bring your creativity to work, and enjoy being in an environment where data drives the direction of the science
- You consider yourself a team player who listens effectively, invites feedback, and participates in active discussion
- You work hard, are kind to others, and enjoy being a part of a collaborative team that gets stuff done
