The Service Delivery Core Network Design Engineer will be responsible for the deployment and implementation of all new network builds and network augments. This role is the senior level of support for Zayo's global network infrastructure. The team provides support to Network Architecture, Network Operations, and Activations teams concerning technical issues and day-to-day care and support of the network. The team oversees the operational health of the network by ensuring operations teams are working on technical issues pertinent to network performance and tuning global network metrics to provide optimal performance for customer services. This team commissions and onboards new network elements and performs software lifecycle management and upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and Acceptance of new infrastructure into the network
- Document, Maintain, and Implement configuration standards and procedures
- Perform after-hours Maintenance Requests for network augments and changes
- Tier IV Operational and Technical support for Implementation Engineering, Packet Architecture, Software Engineering, Service Delivery, and Telemetry
- Monitor and troubleshoot overall network health and alert NCC to potential service issues
- Work with Engineering / Architecture teams to deploy network updates/upgrades and special projects
- Working at the Vendor level to solve complex problems with new or existing network hardware and software.
- Working on multiple upgrade projects in addition to daily transactional tasks.
- Tracking and coding your work appropriately at the task level.
- Create advanced MOPS, Run scripts, and use the tools provided.
- Create, add, and update network designs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years' service provider experience with an understanding of IP, MPLS, Routing & Switching
- Computer Science, Engineering, Telecom, related degree, related Military experience, or equivalent experience
- JNCIA and/or CCNA or equivalent experience
- Direct experience with IP/MPLS Routing and Switching in a service provider role:
- IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, RSVP, LDP, ISIS, 802.1q, QoS, ACLs, Linux, VM, TFTP, SCP
- Direct experience with network hardware and network operating systems:
- Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, Ciena, Adva, and others are a plus
- Basic scripting/programming knowledge a plus; bash and python
- Experience using Microsoft Office or Google programs and project management software
- Flexible schedule to support after-hours maintenance operations
- Detail-oriented, quality-driven, self-directed, and self-motivated team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable to a constantly changing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation and problem-solving functions of this role
- Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, periodically bending and twisting and frequently applying a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of from 1-10 pounds
- Requires frequent keyboarding work
- Close detail work requires visual acuity
- Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work
Base pay range: $31.05 - $43.46 commensurate with experience
