SRCE Infrastructure charter is to build and support core infrastructure and aggregation services for the product development team, get their features pushed to the site in an agile manner and to keep the PayPal site up and running all the time.

Meet our Team:

This role is part of our PayPal Cloud Centre of Excellence and Autorouting team. We are seeking an experienced senior infrastructure Engineer to join the Site Reliability and Cloud Engineering organization in the infrastructure space. SRCE Infrastructure charter is to build and support core infrastructure and aggregation services for PayPal Site and Dev environments supporting the product development team and to keep the PayPal site up and running all the time.

Your Way to Impact:

The Autorouting Engineering Team manages critical Load balancing and aggregation service across PayPal Core Site Infrastructure. Site Reliability engineering is accountable for lifecycle management of core platform services. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding and experience in F5 Big-IP, GTM, Networking protocols, Linux and CLI administration and Enterprise scale Software Load Balancers (VMWare NSX AVI).

Your Day to Day:

• You will deliver technical excellence to Site Reliability Engineering -Load Balancing and Aggregation services team (Autorouting), focused on core networking principles to review setup, build and architect load balancing services (F5/AVI), DNS, NTP, SMTP services across security and availability zones in a hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Role requires niche technology understanding and in-depth troubleshooting skills to support on-call rotation (PST daytime hours) to keep core aggregation services (Load Balancers and GSLB, DNS, NTP, Mail) up and running 24x7.
• This individual being a senior member of the engineering team must be able to lead and influence architecture decisions and mentor peers.
• The candidate should be comfortable in a self-directed work style with minimum supervision
• The candidate should also have good communication skills, both verbal and written across all user levels. Ability to create simple procedural documents

What You Need to Bring:

• A successful candidate will have at least 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and networking protocols
• Experience with load balancers is required (F5, BIG-IP, VMWare AVI or similar technology preferred)
• Solid understanding and expertise of Linux operating system, Unix shell scripting on bash or Bourne shell required.
• Experience working in a hybrid cloud environment is required.
• Experience running DNS at enterprise scale is required
• Monitoring, ability to write custom scripts/plugins for custom monitoring is a plus.
• Good understanding of virtualization technologies is preferred
